£1,000 DONATION TO YORKSHIRE AIR AMBULANCE IS THE LATEST AND LARGEST CONTRIBUTION FROM CAMPBELLS OF LEYBURN’S ‘MAKE A DIFFERENCE LOCALLY’ SCHEME
A £1,000 cheque to help Yorkshire Air Ambulance continue to provide its life-saving services for some 5m people across Yorkshire is the latest and largest donation from a family-owned, Yorkshire Dales’ supermarket that has helped to pioneer a national scheme to support local worthy causes.
Campbells of Leyburn, which has been serving the people of Leyburn and the surrounding areas for more than 120 years, was among the first group of independent retailers in the country to sign up for the national charity, ‘Making a Difference Locally’. This requires participating companies to make an on-going commitment to donate a fixed percentage of the purchase price of a wide range of products – including many leading brands – to local good causes.
Yorkshire Air Ambulance joins Leyburn Rugby Club, Leyburn Primary School and Wensleydale Comprehensive School on the growing list of organisations that have already benefited from the scheme. Doug Campbell, who is the 5th generation of his family to head the supermarket, promises that the donations will keep flowing.
He commented:-
“The brands that are participating in the scheme are clearly marked on our shelves, so our customers have the satisfaction of knowing when a purchase will directly benefit a local good cause. Schools, community groups and charities in the Dales have a standing invitation to submit applications to tap into a scheme that has already proved it can make a difference, locally.”
